Plantronics Savor M1100 Bluetooth Headset Packs Impressive Tech Punch, Could ...
The Good:
The Savor M1100 is stuffed with all the tech features expect of a top-of-the-line Bluetooth headset, and especially good value at $80: A2DP for music-streaming, multipoint for hot-swapping between two different devices, noise-cancelling technology and most notably a voice command feature — very similar to that of the BlueAnt Q2 we reviewed a few weeks back — that not only speaks status information to the user (connection status, battery power, etc.) but also accepts commands spoken by ther user to check these factors, for example, or to answer or decline an incoming call. And similar to the Q2, the Savor also comes with a service (free for a year, $25/year thereafter) that lets you do things like listen to news, sports and weather updates, send voice notes to Evernote and listen to tweets, Facebook updates and emails. It’ll also allow you to send updates, tweets and emails, but in the form of links to voice recordings; if you want voice transcription for outgoing stuff it’ll require and upgrade to Vocalyst Pro ($35 the first year, $60/year thereafter).
Motorola CommandOne Bluetooth Headset: The Cyborg [Review, Primo Headset Week]
The Good:
Sound from the CommandOne is good. Callers are crystal clear, and even at mid-volume, the sound is crisp enough to earn a nice golf clap. This is true whether you’re listening to a friend praising (or complaining about) their iPad or listening to music via the headset’s A2DP technology.
The earpiece doesn’t require that feeling of being rooted into your ear canal to work, so those who fear overly-intrusive headsets due to fears of suddenly being called on by the Cyber-Controller won’t have to worry about being upgraded due to a bad choice in headset. Instead, the headset’s earhook secures the piece to your ear, allowing your ear to breathe (even if it does make you look a little like a half- Lobot ).
BlueAnt Q2 Bluetooth Headset Review — The Gadgeteer
Incoming audio
I’ll say this: If you need a headset that’s loud and clear, this is the one. Period. BlueAnt wasn’t kidding. I love it!
Outgoing audioWe seldom know how well your headset performs- or how much it fails- until someone tells you so. So how does the BlueAnt Q2 sound?
Audio recording of the BlueAnt Q2 in a car on the highway
When compared to other headsets I’ve used, such as the Plantronics Voyager Pro and the 925/975 series, this is about on par, but not exceptional to me. I’m a pretty harsh judge, but if you’re in a regular office environment, this will be just fine.
OopsNo headset is perfect. My drawer of bluetooth devices is a testament to that.
