What is the difference between a CB radio and a 2-way radio?

Hello, I have always used a 2-Way radio when on the deer stand to listen and talk to other hunters in the area. My 2-way radio broke so it is time to replace it. Will a CB radio work the same? Meaning if I have a CB radio, can I still talk to my buddy

CB requires a longer antenna, CB is one big party line.

In Ohio, using a radio to hunt is a huge fine, you lose your gun, you can lose your car, as well as your license.

Cell phones are an issue too, they look at your call

I am looking for a (2-way) radio of some kind to talk to my fiance when her mom won't let her on the phone. Does anyone have some recommendations? We don't have high-income [I work minimum wage part-time, and she doesn't work], so I'm trying to avoid

CB, you'll get about 5 miles, no privacy of course, but no license is required either. anything 2 way that has more range than CB you'll need a license.

Can i bring a 2 way radio into a plane?

Yes, of course can if they are toy walkie talkie or channel-mounted sets.

My situation is a 2 way radio with many buttons, much like those police officers'. Will they confiscate my radio?

By 2 way I assume you mean it can transmit as well as receive.

Assuming you have a licence for it it can be transported in your checked luggage but it must be disabled by removing the batteries.

i just got some 2-way radios and i can only get about a mile and a half range out of them. if i get the gmrs license will i be able to use the radio to at least it's near range capability? what will the license do for me exactly?

A license in itself won't do anything to get you better range. But with a license you will be able to legally use a radio that has more power and therefore greater range. You will still have to buy radios that are capable of the higher power output

no i can’t say i’ve ever tested it on mountain peaks. you got me there. i do know however that urban areas have lots of things that can interfere. standing under power lines will cut your range in at least half. i have tested that. also, yes, it is a law, but it’s kind of like how they won’t care if you go fishing in a pond behind your house without a license. i also know the risks. every radio has it’s own s/n # that they can identify and see who bought it. even if you pay with cash.
